Officials of EADS (the European aerospace consortium) are furious that the Pentagon made great announcements and promises that it would be allowed to compete for US defense contracts, then gave every program to a US company without even evaluating the European designs. EADS is convinced that the Pentagon never intended to buy their aircraft, but only said they were interested to pressure US companies into lowering their prices.--Stephen V Cole
