During training at Fort Carson, Colorado, on 16 January, a new tank crew firing its first live rounds hit two Bradleys on an adjacent firing range with 7.62mm bullets from its coaxial machinegun. Seven bullets hit one Bradley; three hit the other. None of the bullets did more than nick the paint; the Bradley's armor is strong enough to stop such rounds at the distances involved. There were no casualties. While the incident is under investigation, it appears that the Bradleys were not at fault and that the tank crew simply lost situational awareness and did not realize that they were firing outside of the designated firing range.--Stephen V Cole
