Submarines: September 8, 2000


The US Navy is studying the idea of basing three-to-five nuclear attack submarines at Guam in order to reduce the transit time to bases on the US west coast. This would effectively increase the number of submarines on station without increasing the number of submarines in service.--Stephen V Cole
