 The US admitted it made a mistake in attacking an Afghan village on June 30th, in which some 48 people died. Monetary compensation will be paid, which is a traditional Afghan way to settle such matters and avoid a blood feud. 

A second Global Hawk reconnaissance UAV crashed. The cause was apparently mechanical or software failure.
