Afghanistan: February 8, 2005


The Taliban is broke, and fewer and fewer Afghans are willing to stick their necks out for the cause. Working for drug gangs has become much more popular than supporting the Taliban cause. Al Qaeda has apparently abandoned Afghanistan, fleeing to Pakistan, where there is a much larger and vigorous terrorist community. A comeback is being discussed.
