Afghan police seized four tons of hashish and destroyed five opium production labs in southeast Afghanistan. No one was arrested. Through the 1990s, most of the labs that converted poppy plants to opium were across the border in Pakistan. But the Afghan tribes that are growing the poppies are now setting up their own laps (which can often fit in the back of a truck) so they can increase their profits.
