The first squadron of 18 Global Hawk long-range unmanned recon drones will be based at Beale Air Force Base in California, where the U-2 spy planes are based. The Air Force is hounding Congress for money to buy at least 18 more Global Hawks, which might be based at Edwards AFB in California, Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, or Tinker AFB in Oklahoma.--Stephen V Cole
