Government plans to build an LNG (liquid natural gas) plant in Ondo state, next to the main oil producing Delta state, are opposed by the people of Delta state. The government plan would make Ondo an "oil producing state" and move some of the oil revenue from Delta to Ondo. The people of Delta don't want to lose the business (especially thousands of jobs), but the government does not want to risk problems with local unrest by building the plant in Delta state. The LNG plant would chill natural gas to a liquid state so it can be carried on refrigerated ships to foreign customers.
