Calls for Nigeria to send troops to Sierra Leone led to Nigerian leaders demanding that a Nigerian be given command of the UN troops in Sierra Leone and that Western nations pay for the effort. Nigerian troops in Sierra Leone have threatened to open fire on British paratroopers. The Nigerians resent how the British came in and seemingly took over.
