On the Bangladesh border, as many as a hundred Bangladeshis have been killed in the last year as they tried to cross the border illegally. Another 3,230 were arrested. The 4,000 kilometer long border is difficult to patrol and much of it is in rural or jungle areas. The border police on both sides sometimes fight each other over the killing of Bangladeshis trying to get into India.
