In Kashmir, rebel violence left seven dead. The newly elected government in Kashmir freed a senior separatist leader in the hopes of getting some peace negotiations going.

India continues to accuse Bangladesh of tolerating separatist rebels. These Indian groups in the northeast operate from camps in thinly populated areas of Bangladesh. 

The CIA says it believes most al Qaeda leaders were hiding out in Pakistan. The police and army have been hunting these al Qaeda members in Pakistan and have been capturing some of them. But there plenty of places to hide in the countryside and cities.
