Pakistani president Musharraf announced that he would not tolerate terrorist operations and banned five Islamic fundamentalist groups (including two that provide most of the armed support for separatist violence in Kashmir.) Gunfire across the line of control left a Pakistani civilian and four Pakistani soldiers dead.
