During the last week of April,
the U.S. run Radio Free Europe (RFE) web sites was hit by a Cyber War attack
which shut many of them down. The RFE Belarus web site appeared to be the main
target. But soon, similar attacks were made on the RFE web sites for Kosovo,
Azerbaijan, Tatar-Bashkir, Radio Farda, and those supplying news in South Slav,
Russian, and Tajik languages. These are all areas where the West and Russia are
competing to control public opinion. No one took credit for the attacks, which
benefitted Russia and the pro-Russian governments or factions in those areas.
