Information Warfare: China And The Secret Sauce

Archives

March 24, 2012: American electronic warfare officials fear that China has not only stolen many technical details of U.S. military electronics but has developed and is testing equipment to disrupt or deceive American electronic equipment. This includes communications, radars, and signal detectors and jammers. This is believed to be one reason China has been so aggressive in keeping American electronic monitoring ships and aircraft away from the Chinese coast, where a lot of this equipment is tested. Despite these efforts to keep the Americans away, some of the Chinese testing activity has been detected and analyzed, and that has led to fears that China might hold a commanding position in the opening days of a war, at least in terms of keeping their electronic gear operating and American stuff jammed and confused.

American electronic warfare experts know how bad this can be, as the U.S. has over 60 years' experience doing this to others. Now the tables appear to be turned, due to the Chinese success in Internet based espionage. All this takes place in the shadows because having some electronic special secret sauce works best if the enemy doesn't even know it exists.
