China signed a deal with Russia in 1999 to license build 40 Su-27SK fighters. It has received ten kits to build fighters from, as well as four trainer versions of the Su-27 with in-flight refueling capabilities. Sukhoi has boasted that China will probably extend the deal to as many as 100 aircraft, resulting in more profits for the Russian company.--Stephen V Cole
