Since the Ivory Coast army rebelled last December over what the troops considered poor treatment, a general has been running the nation. New elections are to take place next month, with general Robert Guei running against a former prime minister. Today there was an assassination attempt against Guei. It failed, although two of the general's bodyguards were killed. The general blamed political opponents, although there are still a lot of unhappy soldiers around..
