Communists Go For Broke

December 27, 2005: Troops and police continue pursuing Abu Sayyaf rebels on Sulu island, killing or capturing nearly 200 of them so far this month. Meanwhile, police are uncovering more plans for Islamic terrorist attacks, as well as the conspirators (including Christian Filipinos who have converted to Islam.)

December 26, 2005: The NPA has offered to work with any dissident police or soldiers to overthrow the president. The NPA believes they have a chance to recover lost power by helping overthrow the current government. So far, this has been more media fodder than reality.

December 23, 2005: The communist NPA rebel group has refused to observe a Christmas truce this year. The NPA has taken a beating this year, and is desperate to regain lost ground.
