Pro-Estrada riots broke out in the capital. The mob was calling for president Arroyo to flee and for former president Estrada to be freed from prison. This is the worst violence in the capital since mobs forces president Marcos out of power in 1986. Imprisoned former president Estrada defended the violence in the capital as a a legitimate defense of the constitution. Estrada still considers himself the legitimate president. He called for calm. So far, the military has backed president Arroyo.
