 The army has restricted the movement of journalists along the Libian border. There, 150 kilometers  north of the border town of Illizi, army commandos have been reported preparing to assault rebel positions in the hills there. A splinter group of the GSPC rebels are believed to be holding 15 kidnapped European tourists there. Over the weekend, there were false reports that the army had already made the rescue.
