The hard core Islamic rebels are going to be difficult to root out. While the rebels are unpopular with the vast majority of the population, they have plenty of places to hide. The few hundred rebels are operating in  huge areas of rural mountains and forests. Also, rebels are increasingly setting off bombs in cities.
