South Africa has signed a military cooperation accord with Algeria. This will involve exchanges of officers, training, and technology. It is notable that Algeria was once regarded as the Arab country closest to producing a nuclear weapon and that South Africa had produced a few nuclear weapons under the previous regime before the current government dismantled them.--Stephen V Cole
