Procurement: Must Have More Su-30s Before F-16s Arrive

December22, 2006: India is buying another 40 Su-30 warplanes from Russia. India is already building 140 Su-30s under license, but the air force convinced the government that, in order to maintain air superiority in the region, more Su-30s should be obtained quickly, and that could only be done by ordering some from Russia. India is apparently concerned with F-16s being purchased by Pakistan.
