mso-bidi-language: AR-SA"> A rebel suicide bomber killed a Moslim candidate for parliament and 23 others. A second suicide bomber attack on a politician was thwarted by police, although two policemen were injured. In Jaffna, rebels continued to attack, both with infantry and artillery. Overnight, four soldiers were killed and 45 wounded. Some fifty rebels died. The army held their positions. Army artillery and air force warplanes played a large role in stopping the rebel attacks.
