Fighting between Ansar al-Islam Islamic radicals and Kurds continues in northern Iraq. The Kurds report they have lost over a hundred fighters killed, plus twenty civilians caught in the crossfire (or landmines laid by Ansar.) The Kurds believe that Iraq is providing some support to Ansar, as a way to distract the Kurds from participating in a a possible invasion of Iraq.
