Kurdish War: April 9, 2001


: The Turkish press reported an anti-Kurd riot in the town of Susurluk (northwestern Turkey). At least 5000 people were involved in the incident. The cause: an ethnic Kurd (named Recep Ipek) was. suspected of raping and murdering an 11-year-old girl (Afsar Sila Caldiran). A subsequent report said seven people were injured in the riot.
