A Turkish spokesman said six police officers (including the chief of police in the city of Diyarbakir) were killed in an ambush. The attackers fired on the police chief's car in downtown Diyarbakir. The Turkish government did not blame any particular group, but given the location (southeast Turkey) PKK guerrillas are clearly high on the suspect list.
