Israel: March 25, 2004

In the UN, the United States vetoed a resolution condemning Israel for killing Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. The US objected that the resolution made no mention of the Hamas terrorism. In general, most  UN members see the inability of Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a peace deal as a greater wrong than Palestinian terrorists killing Israelis. For most of the world, Palestinians killing Israeli civilians is not terrorism, but striking a blow for Palestinian freedom.

Near an Israeli settlement in Gaza, three Palestinian terrorists emerged from the Mediterranean wearing scuba gear and armed with assault rifles. As the Palestinians approached the Israeli settlement, they were spotted and two shot dead by Israeli soldiers.
