Three European tourists, who were kidnapped in eastern Iran on December 2nd, were freed by their captors (who claimed to be Taliban with al Qaeda links.) The kidnappers then apparently fled into Pakistan. The kidnappers may have just been bandits or drug smugglers. In any event, the government got the local chiefs to put pressure on the
