:   Conservatives blame the US for the reform movement among Iranian students and young people. A major problem with religious conservatives is that they will not accept the fact that the majority of young Iranians are not religious. To accept this would mean recognizing that the Islamic fundamentalists have no popular following.

Moderates, who control parliament, have brought the power struggle to a boil by introducing a law that would eliminate the veto power religious conservatives have had over parliament and the government. Since the conservatives have veto power on these laws, making proposals like this could lead to civil war to settle the matter of who shall rule the nation.

Save StrategyPage

Over the years, we have tried to keep in-your-face ads off our site. If our readers have complained about an ad, we have looked into it and 90% of the time removed the ad. Unfortunately, revenues from standard ads are just not enough to keep us alive.

What can you do to help resuscitate StrategyPage? There are three possibilities:

  1. Make sure you spread the word about us. Two ways to do that are to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
  2. Subscribe to our daily newsletter. We’ll send the news to your email box, and you don’t have to come to the site unless you want to read columns or see photos.
  3. You can contribute to the health of StrategyPage. A contribution is not a donation that you can deduct at tax time, but a form of crowdfunding. We store none of your information when you contribute..

We appreciate any help you can give us.
