Serbia's Vojvodina region is predominantly an ethnic Hungarian enclave. It's one of those "pieces of the former Habsburg empire" that became "a piece of the former Yugoslavia." Etcetera. Serbs have been suspicious of ethnic Hungarian demands for political rights and autonomy. Some ethnic Hungarians have been extremely suspicious of Serbian intentions. Serbs see Kosovo slowly seceding from Serbia and don't want to lose anymore territory. That's why a recent terror attack today, on an ethnic Hungarian leader's home has stirred passions throughout Vojvodina and worried Serbian leaders in Belgrade. Ethnic Hungarians report a rise in violent incidents. Serbia's senior leaders, however, have condemned the attacks.
