In a bid to settle the longstanding disagreement with Greece over the use of the name Macedonia The leader of Macedonia's Democratic Alternative suggested Macedonia change its official name to Upper Macedonia. Greece insists on calling Macedonia the "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" (FYROM). Greece says that the use of the name "Macedonia" by Macedonia implies a claim to the Greek province of Macedonia.
