The Pentagon has decided to allow the services to pursue their own plans for airborne jamming aircraft. The Navy will build the F-18G Growler, the Air Force will convert B-52s to provide this service, while the Marines will take over the EA-6B fleet and use it for their own missions. Congress is not expected to agree to the plan so readily, but will want to force the services to build a single new design based on the F-35.--Stephen V Cole
