Australia has settled on an upgrade package for 360 of its M113 armored personnel carriers. Some 259 of these will be stretched to include a sixth road wheel. The upgrade includes a new diesel engine, automatic transmission, external fuel tanks, improved suspension and brakes, internal spall liners, appliqu armor, fire suppression systems, and other equipment. Armor protection is to be able to stop a 14.5mm projectile from any direction.--Stephen V Cole
