The Sudanese government (Khartoum) claimed that its forces stopped an SPLA attack on a train in the Bahd el-Ghazal region. The train was bound for the town of Aweil. The government statement claimed its forces had "killed or wounded hundreds" of SPLA fighters. The claims were unconfirmed. Other reports suggest the SPLA is preparing to attack the government-held towns of Kayala, Torit, and Magwe.
