Japan will launch its first two spy satellites next February, using an H-II-A booster. One will have a camera able to pick out objects only one meter across, while the other will have a radar able to see objects as small as three meters. A second pair will follow in July. The impetus for this move is the North Korean missile program.--Stephen V Cole
