Israel, which previously purchased 700 JDAM kits from the US to turn its dumb bombs into precision-guided weapons, has ordered another 1,000 in a deal worth $27 million. Oman will buy two aircraft recon systems (mounted in pods) for $50 million. The UAE will upgrade its 30 AH-64As to the radar-equipped AH-64D under a deal worth $1.5 billion. The sales to Oman and UAE are thought to be part of an agreement to let the US use their bases to support an invasion of Iraq.--Stephen V Cole
