Eurocopter has received a $19.7 million contract to upgrade 35 CH-53G heavy lift helicopters belonging to the German Army to use instrument flight rules. This includes multifunction displays, GPS navigation, a second VHF-AM radio for talking to civilian controllers, and other improvements. This will allow the aircraft to operate in civilian airspace and during international missions.--Stephen V Cole
