The Boeing-747F air freighter will remain the primary cargo plane of the world for decades, not least because existing passenger 747s (replaced by newer designs) can be quickly converted into 747Fs. Airlines already operating 747s are unlikely to buy the cargo version of the Airbus-300 even though it carries more freight.--Stephen V Cole
