Rearming the SLA (Sierra Leone Army ) is not without its problems, as six UN Kenyan peacekeepers have already been shot by SLA members, mistaking them for RUF rebels in UN uniforms. Meanwhile, Britain stated that it's paratroopers are not part of the peacekeeping force but are there to safeguard the airport and assist in the evacuation of foreigners. But, Britain warned, their paratroopers would hit back hard if attacked by rebels.
