The Burundian government said the FDD killed eight civilians outside the town of Kayanza (north of Bujumbura). The government also said this broke a truce agreement. The government report alleged that in the incident the rebels fired on what was clearly a civilian vehicle. The Burundian government, however, is a questionable source. Reports continue to circulate among human rights groups of the Burundian Army (which is 99.9 percent Tutsi) shooting up Hutu villages and then blaming the FDD and FNL for the action.
