The government is arresting leaders of the anti-Japanese demonstrations. Although many believe the government was behind the demonstrations, it was clear that many of the protest events were not under any official control. While it's understandable that Chinese are still angry at the Japanese for killing over twenty million Chinese, and then refusing to admit it in school textbooks, Chinese are also angry at the Communist Party for killing even more Chinese, and also refusing to admit it in school textbooks. Japan is now publicizing that point by launching a study of textbooks in twenty nations to compare and contrast how other nations handle unsavory aspects of their history.
