China: April 30, 2001

Headquarters, US Army Reserve Command issued the orders (via email) for units to gather up all berets and categorize them into those manufactured in the US or Canada and others. Units were told to count the "others" (many made in China) and estimate the cost to return them by mail to their issue points. Units were told to submit the cost estimate and wait for further direction. The commanders are furious because the cost of the berets (and the cost of the return shipping) was not in their budget and will have to come out of other accounts.
