During a recent set of wargames, China utilized dozens of commercial cargo ships to transport troops and supplies in a simulation of a "regional off-shore war". China does not have enough amphibious lift to invade Taiwan and would have to rely on using ordinary freighters (some of them run literally aground) to deliver enough troops to deploy a credible invasion force.--Stephen V Cole
