On the Uzbekistan border with Kyrgyzstan, two young Kyrgyz men were killed by a landmine. Uzbekistan began laying mines on the border in 1999, to try and stop Islamic terrorists from crossing into the country. But all the victims of the mines have been civilians who wandered into the poorly marked minefields.
