Central Asia: September 28, 2000


  Kazakh police killed four Uighur Chinese rebels. Six Kazakh police were wounded in the incident. The four Uighurs, seeking a separate state carved out of western China, had earlier killed two policemen who had gone looking for foreigners in the country illegally. The rebels were later trapped in a house and died in a gun battle. .
