Russian border guards killed two armed Afghans trying to enter Tajikistan from Afghanistan. The Afghans were apparently drug smugglers. Drugs are becoming a larger threat to regional stability than religion. Drug use is rising ten to twenty percent a year and the drug lords command larger and larger armies to protect their illicit trade.
