The U.S. Marine Corps has issued a "stop loss" order for all Marines. This means that anyone who was due to get out of the Marines in the next 12 months (retirement, end of enlistment, whatever), has to stay in uniform for up to another year. Exceptions will be made for hardship cases. The last time the Marines did this was during the 1991 Gulf War.
