: The Navy has narrowed its selection for the Advanced Land Attack Missile to three candidates:

1. an improved variant of the Land Attack Standard (anti-aircraft) Missile.

2. The Army Tactical Missile System.

3. An entirely new missile (for which no design money is available).

The Navy wants a range of at least 400 kilometers (preferably 600) and whatever new missile is selected will have to use the boost-glide system (burn up the fuel reaching speed and height, then glide on small wings to the target. The missile is designed to support Marine landings, and will carry a variety of warheads (submunitions, penetrating).--Stephen V Cole
