US NAVY SEALS of Team Three are testing new "weapons bag" designs. These are intended to protect individual weapons while carrying them on underwater travel, or while moving through the surf line during a landing. Several types of bags, made from different materials, are being tested. All include waterproof zippers and inflation tubes that would allow the SEAL to inflate the bag to neutral buoyancy. The smallest bag holds the M4 carbine and includes an internal glove that would allow the weapon to be fired before removing it from the bag. The largest bag holds the M60 machinegun or the M249 SAW, the heaviest weapons carried by SEALs.--Stephen V Cole
