The V-22 flight test program is expanding, and will have seven aircraft flying by summer. The big problem is the "vortex ring state", a phenomenon that happens (and causes crashes) at low-speeds and high sink rates. It is possible to put the aircraft into such a state, which has caused fatal crashes. --Stephen V Cole
